Summer Saturday—1 September 2018

Update: Thanks to the generosity of the Clarendon Park community, we raised £550 for Wild Honey projects on Saturday. That’s absolutely brilliant, and means that we’re a step closer to our new trips venture.

Thanks to all who came and supported us. And very many thanks too to the volunteer stall holders and those who made and donated a terrific range of high-quality goods. With lunches and stunningly good music, it was a great social and community event too. Already looking forward to next year.

Our traditional fun, fundraising event is a bit later this year. We weren’t sure if September was still summer. But we decided that this year it will be! So a big warm, summery welcome to all for our major fundraising event of the year.

We think of it as a social and community occasion too. So it’s not just stalls, with high-quality bric-a-brac, jams, cakes, pickles, books & plants. We also invite everyone from Clarendon Park to drop in, say hello, meet friends, or talk to us about our projects. Refreshments and lunches will be on hand to keep us going.

We have a new venture to fundraise for this year, currently in the planning stage. We hope to set up cinema or theatre trips for those who rarely get out. It should be a brilliant venture, and all contributions gratefully received.

It’s at Christchurch, Clarendon Park Road, from 10 am to 2 pm. Feel free to download and pass on the leaflet below.

A brilliant busk

From 10 am on Saturday morning 28 July, Nicola Mirams, also known as the Fundraising Flautist, will be outside Christopher James Deli on Queens Road serenading passers-by with a selection from her repertoire of classical, folk, modern and show tunes.

This is going to make a brilliant start to any weekend. Even better, Nicola is fundraising on this occasion for Wild Honey. So all generous donations from music-lovers inspired by her busking go straight to Clarendon Park’s own community project.

Volunteers from Wild Honey will also be around, to talk about what we do and answer questions.

We are massively grateful to Nicola and her team, and really looking forward to a fantastic event in our great community.

10 am to 11.30 am Saturday 28 July 2018 on Queens Road, outside Christopher James Deli.

Get to know your phone

The start of a year is a great time for looking at your new smart gadget and thinking, “I wish I knew how to work that”.

It’s also good for new resolutions. Such as to figure out that thing you’ve never been able to do on your phone, tablet or computer.

Which makes it a great time to come to Keep up! Our small but trusted band of volunteers are gearing up to welcome anyone with a question they’d like answering or a skill they’d like to acquire.

Our weekly sessions start on 24 January and run through to 21 March. It’s free, everyone is welcome and there are tea and biscuits. We start at 6.30 pm and finish 8.00 pm. Sessions are at Christchurch, 105a Clarendon Park Rd, Leicester LE2 3AH

Keep up spring 2018 dates

Summer Saturday—12 August

Summer Saturday, our fun fundraising event, is coming soon— Saturday 12 August. A great chance to meet friends, acquire high-quality bric-a-brac, artworks, plants and herbs for house or garden, secondhand books and all kinds of other treasures.

The lunches last year were spectacularly good. Worth dropping in just for them. And there’s a chance we’ll have music too.

This is our main fundraiser of the year, and we rely on it to keep our projects running. If you can make it, we’d love to see you.

It’s at Christchurch, Clarendon Park Road, from 10 am to 2 pm. Feel free to download and pass on the leaflet below.
